ANURADHAPURA

Anuradhapura was established by King Pandukabhaya in 377 BCE and became a center of political, religious, and cultural significance in ancient Sri Lanka. It was a thriving capital and a major hub of trade and Buddhist pilgrimage, attracting devotees from all over the world. Anuradhapura was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, recognizing its outstanding universal value and contribution to world civilization.
