Behind Sri Lanka Vacay are Ida and Cham — a family with roots in both Sweden and Sri Lanka.
Here, we share our story and how Sri Lanka became a natural part of our lives.
ABOUT US
I, Ida grew up between Sweden and Sri Lanka.
My mother is from Sri Lanka. My father travelled there as a young man — and fell in love. With the country. With the culture. And with my mother. That is where their story began. And where mine began too.
Almost every summer holiday of my childhood was spent on the island. Not in hotels, but in everyday life — with family, long dinners, crowded markets, laughter and slow evenings. We returned year after year, sometimes several times a year. Sri Lanka was never just somewhere we travelled to. It has always been a part of me.
There is something magnetic about Sri Lanka. Something that calls you back.
And in many ways, history repeated itself.
During one of my trips back to the island, I met Cham — my great love. We travelled back and forth between Sweden and Sri Lanka for years. He visited Sweden. I returned to the island. Until one day, he moved to Sweden.
Today we live in Stockholm with our two young boys. And whenever life allows it, we return to Sri Lanka.

We simply shared what we loved. The places that felt special. The people we trusted. The experiences that stayed with us.
Eventually, it became clear that there was space for something more personal. Something built from lived experience, not from brochures.
Sri Lanka is not a destination we discovered through research. It is part of our story. And we felt called to create a way for others to experience it with the same depth and warmth.
Sri Lanka Vacay was never just a business idea.
It grew naturally from our life.
